Winter Wellness: Nordic Spas, Saunas, and Cold-Plunge Experiences | DFH Real Estate

When the winter chill gets you feeling blue, do as the Norwegians do—head to the sauna! Nordic hot-cold therapies can boost your mood, reduce your stress, and maybe even relieve some of your daily aches and pains.

Many of our real estate agents enjoy the occasional sauna session and cold plunge and have reaped these benefits for themselves. Think the practice might help you, too? Give it a try at these five spas and saunas near our Victoria homes for sale.

Turn Up the Heat at These 5 Victoria Spas and Saunas

RITUAL Nordic Spa

Address: 989 Johnson Street, Victoria, BC V8V 0E3

RITUAL Nordic Spa offers two types of spa therapies at its Johnson Street location:

  • The Nordic Circuit, a two-hour self-paced experience with unrestricted access to the public sauna, salt room, cold plunge, steam room, and bucket shower
  • Massages, including relaxing Swedish massages for everyday wellness, and RMT massages administered by Registered Massage Therapists

You can buy discounted passes for the Nordic Circuit and the sauna, good for up to 10 visits each. If you plan on visiting frequently, consider investing in one of their membership plans. There are three to choose from:

  • The Cold Plunge Club, which gets you four Nordic Circuits for $194 a month
  • Early Bird Unlimited Mornings, which gets you unlimited one-hour Nordic Circuits on weekday mornings (7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.) for $224 a month
  • SISU Unlimited, which gets you unlimited Nordic Circuits anytime during opening hours for $394 a month

Wildwood Saunas

Address: 4185 Metchosin Road, Metchosin, BC V9C 3Z5

Wildwood Saunas operates two 15-person saunas at Bilston Creek Farms, a quiet family-owned lavender farm near our Metchosin homes for sale. For $42.50 per person, you get access to:

  • The saunas
  • A bucket for a cooling shower
  • Cold plunge tubs
  • Relaxation spaces

Each booking lasts 90 minutes and should give you enough time to complete four to five cycles through all four components. You can also rent a private sauna for $495 per 90-minute block—a move that may actually save you money if you're visiting with a large group.

Aerth

Address: 312 Quebec Street, Victoria, BC V8V 1W3

Tucked into a formerly abandoned alleyway, Aerth is proud to call itself the first sauna village in Victoria.

Guests travel between enclosed sauna rooms and outdoor cold plunge pools and showers to complete the Aerth Circuit, a 90-minute experience with three cycles of heat, cold, and rest. Staff also teach in-depth classes on practices such as Banya (a Russian sauna practice that uses humid heat instead of dry heat) and Aufguss (a German sauna ritual that uses essential oils to create scented steam).

Drop-in sessions cost $55 each and can be booked in social or silent saunas, depending on your needs. You'll get a $10 discount for booking before 11:30 a.m. on weekdays. Buy a 10-visit digital punch card or a monthly or yearly membership to save on repeat visits.

Float House Victoria

Address: 662 Herald Street, Victoria, BC V8W 1S7

Float House Victoria offers hot-and-cold therapy in their infrared dry sauna and plunge tub. The facility charges $85 for a 75-minute session with a $20 discount for first-time customers, making it even easier to say yes to that first visit.

They also offer a few other services and packages to help you on your wellness journey, including:

  • One 75-minute sensory deprivation tank float session for $85
  • One float session and one hot-and-cold session for $145
  • One 60-minute massage for $110
  • One 90-minute massage for $165

Memberships cost $59 a month and include one float session or hot-and-cold therapy session each billing cycle. Members can purchase additional sessions for just $45 each.

Fairmont Spa

Address: 633 Humboldt Street, Victoria, BC V8W 1A6

  • A full-service salon

You can't book the sauna and mineral pool on their own, but you can get complimentary access by booking any spa treatment. Some of the most popular include:

  • The Empress Blue Ritual, a body polish session followed by a coconut water bath and an oil massage
  • The Elements Ritual, a four-step body treatment that incorporates nods to earth, air, water, and fire
