Where to See Fall Colours Around Southern Vancouver Island | DFH Real Estate

Love the look of fall foliage? So do our real estate agents! Vancouver Island's rugged landscapes are the perfect showcase for all of autumn's rich reds, oranges, and yellows. Here are some of our team's favorite spots to take in the colourful fall leaves near our Victoria homes for sale.

  • Mount Erskine Provincial Park – Trustees Trail, Salt Spring Island, BC V8K 2X2
Mount Erskine Provincial Park is one of several parks on Salt Spring Island, a famous artists' retreat located just a quick ferry or seaplane ride away from our Cowichan Bay homes for sale. While most of the trees on Mount Erskine are evergreens, they're not what's special about this location in the fall. Making the one- to two-hour hike up to the mountain's peak will reveal a jaw-dropping vista with a clear view of miles of trees on the island and the surrounding shoreline.

  • Hatley Park - 2005 Sooke Road, Victoria, BC V9B 5Y2
Hatley Park is a 565-acre Victoria property capped by the towering Hatley Castle, a stately manor house that has seen frequent use as a Hollywood film set over the last 100 years. This estate's gardens are just as impressive as the building itself. The secluded Japanese garden is particularly striking in the fall, featuring dozens of brightly coloured Japanese maples clustered around two small streams and a serene scenic lake. Visitors can walk the garden's many winding paths or settle down in the ornate covered pavilion to enjoy its majesty.

  • Goldstream Provincial Park - Finlayson Arm Road, Langford, BC V9B 6H7
Goldstream Provincial Park offers visitors a look at one of B.C.'s most beautiful old-growth temperate rainforests. This lush natural haven near our Langford homes for sale is teeming with life, including plenty of fallen logs and vibrant moss that make excellent photo subjects. The vivid reds and yellows that emerge during the fall season only enhance this picturesque area's charm. Come prepared with sturdy, waterproof hiking boots to make sure you can easily reach all the spots with the best views.

  • Lochside Regional Trail – Saanich Core, BC V8X 2E1
Lochside Regional Trail used to be a functioning railway line before being converted to a walking trail in 2001. The rails are still in place along the path, guiding you through long stretches of forest where the trees grow so thick that their leaves block out the sky. Walking through these vibrant natural corridors surrounded by autumn foliage is a one-of-a-kind experience you'll never forget. Near these Saanich homes for sale, it's an easy trail with many paved sections, making it a great option for families and inexperienced hikers.

  • Horticulture Centre of the Pacific - 505 Quayle Road, Victoria, BC V9E 2J7
The Horticulture Centre of the Pacific (or HCP for short) is a world-renowned conservation organization dedicated to furthering horticultural science while preserving B.C.'s natural biodiversity. Their grounds include more than 100 hectares of lush public gardens, many of which feature trees that change their colour in the fall. They also have a diverse selection of fall flowers on display, including chrysanthemums, asters, marigolds, and more. You can explore the gardens on your own or book a guided tour from one of the centre's friendly plant experts.

No matter the season, B.C.'s beautifully untamed forests, fields, and coastlines always have something new to offer. Want to see these majestic landscapes every time you look out your window? Contact us today to learn more about our extensive roster of homes for sale around Vancouver Island.
