Sooke is located on the southern point of Vancouver Island on Canada’s rugged west coast, just 40 minutes from the heart of downtown Victoria via the Trans Canada Highway #14.It is surrounded to the north, west and south by Juan de Fuca, and to the east by the District of Metchosin. Sooke’s terrain varies greatly, from the long, sandy beaches of Wiffin Spit, to the steep and wooded Sooke Hills. It encompassesapproximately 5,800 hectares of semi-rural land. Sooke is located within the Capital Regional District.
- Wiffin Spit Park is a natural spit that separates Sooke Harbour and Sooke Inlet. There is a crushed stone path along its entire length and the walk to the end of the spit where the lighthouse sits is leisurely. This is a beautiful spot for picnickers and birdwatchers.
- The Sooke Region Museum exhibits First Nations artifacts, historic photographs, weavings, quilting, carvings and pioneer artifacts. At the museum you’ll discover much of Sooke’s rich history in farming, forestry, gold mining and more.
- Sooke’s beaches offer a variety of year-round activities ranging from scuba diving to fishing, kayaking to beachcombing.
